As manager of my department, I was looking for a way to connect more with my colleagues. I wanted to break through the hierarchical systems you often see in organisations and see if everybody could express themselves more freely.

The biggest challenge was to shift from my mind to my heart – opening up instead of being the critical person on the side-lines. This shift can be scary since there’s fear of what people might think of you. But once you do it, you start to see from other people’s perspective. It’s also a lot of fun!

I feel more positive and balanced and I am more aware of what’s happen- ing around me. There are more interactions in our team meetings. Instead of just giving an update on what we are working on, there is more room to share concerns and ask for help. We’re a more effective team.
